Geocache Description:

This cache is on the Middlebury Trail, built and maintained by the Middlebury Land Trust. It is marked by blue paint blazes. Trillium is out!

One end of the trail is at Sperry Pond, on Straits Turnpike (Connecticut Rt. 63). This is a pleasant park surrounding a pond. with a grassy road going through it. This is the easier, but longer approach to the cache (1 miles vs. ¼ mile). The other parking spot is at the end of Fair Haven Drive, which is off Park Road Extension. The trail is steep in places here. The cache is near a small pile of rocks, which were placed about a hundred years ago to mark the boundary between the towns of Watertown and Middlebury (and between Litchfield County and New Haven County). It's not necessary to destroy the cairn or the pipe. It's NEXT to it. Click this link to see a map of this geocache and others too that follow along the Foote Path. Map of Foote Path on Google Maps
