Geocache Description:

******UNTIL SUMMER 2010 IS OVER GO TO THE WEST ONE, THERE IS A BIRD NEST IN THE EAST. PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB THEM********

This monument was built in 1916 after a two-year fund raising campaign by the Garfield Circle22, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic. Col. David Taylor donated two lots for the monument, and the two civil war cannons were given by Post 464 of the Grand Army of the Republic. The eight urns (two have been damaged and are missing) represent the Armies of the Potomac, Rappahannock, Cumberland, Western Army, Armies of the North and South, Navy, Marines, and the Cavalry.
