Dr. Henry Jones Jr., known to his friends and enemies as Indiana
Jones, is a professor of archeology at Marshall College. Many years
ago he first heard of the legend of the Golden Skull of the Mayas.
This solid gold artifact, was supposed to give its owner
supernatural powers. In particular, it bestows on its owner the
ability to be the first to find millions of small treasures that
later generations would hide around the world.
Some rumors said that after the collapse of the Mayan
civilization, the Golden Skull had been brought to Zacpeten, one of
the last Mayan communities to remain independent from the Spanish
invadors. Others said that it went North, well beyond the limits of
the Mayan sphere of influence, perhaps as far north as Texas. But
Indiana Jones was very sceptical of that.
So in the early months of 2010, he arranged for an expedition to
the most likely place: Zacpeten in Northern Guatemala. There he met
with Professor Paul DuGenou, another world re-known archeologist
and started with him the excavation of the funerary crypt of Péten
Yaxha, one of the last presumed leader of the Ko'woj Mayans.
After three weeks of combing through the rocks and sand, finally
something gold started to emerge.... Was it the Golden Skull?
No. It was a small golden stone with signs on it.
Indiana Jones' heart started to race. Had he really found the
final clue to the location of the Golden Skull? Without hesitation,
he encouraged Professor DuGenou to come with him and board his
airplane... Yes, they were flying to Austin, TX.
Can you too find the Golden Skull?
If you don't want to see a SPOILER of the final container, don't
look at the pictures posted by previous finders...
PS: Bring your own pen. The Mayan did not have any. The Golden
Skull can only contain a log and a couple of geocoins.
PPS: For trailheads, look at the nearby traditional geocache.
PPPS: Bring your fedora hat and take a picture of yourself with the
Golden Skull and the hat on your head to get an extra smiley
