Geocache Description:

This is a one stage multi cache. All you need to do is visit the first stage, and work out the coordinates for the final cache.

Free parking is usually possible at Hannafore, even during the summer months. The promenade is a pleasant spot for a post cache picnic and ice creams are available. The walk to the first stage involves a short hill climb. Note the date that the chapel came into disuse and work out the coordinates for the final cache. The walk to the final cache will take about 45 minutes.

The year the Chapel came into disuse = ABCD.

Final Cache is at N50° 20.0AC' W004° 2D.(D-B)DC'

The cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust along the scenic coastal path, betweeen Looe and Polperro, that has continuous views of Looe Island. Looe Island is also known as St George's Island, although the origins for this name are somewhat obscure. The island has a chequered history of monks, smugglers, treasure and ghosts. Attie and Babs Atkins bought the Island in 1964 and lived there until 2004. Currently the Island is run by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. For those who may be interested in visiting the Island there is a ferry from East Looe, and expect to pay a small landing fee on the Island.

The route to the cache includes three sets of very steep steps and some unfenced paths. Care should therefore be taken to keep young children under strict control, particularly at the cache site which is on an exposed point. After finding the cache you may wish to continue to Talland Bay where cafes are open during the season. For the even more adventurous the walk to Polperro is highly recommended. At the time of writing regular buses from Polperro to Hannafore are available.
