This is a 2 lb camouflaged coffee can with log book and several small trade items. A presidential gold dollar is for the FTF. The rating is for the hiking to the cache. If you choose to drive up it is pretty easy.
Kingston is an old silver mining town that had as many as 7000 people here during the boom days in the late 1870's. There are still a lot of the old mine shafts and tailings piles visible in the area. This is a great hike for the ones that are into the strenuous hikes by starting in the downtown area and hiking north on water street and stay on the forest road that leads up the mountain. Is about a 2 mile rt this way. You can also drive most of the way up with most vehicles although it is a little rough in places and this road is prone to wash out in heavy rains, so be aware. You can drive as far as the cattle guard where there is a nice spot to park and is a short hike to the cache. This is in the Gila national forest, and there are many great hiking trail in the area. For those that are into the back country hiking and have a bit of time there is a trail to the left of the cattle guard that makes a loop to a lot of the old mines in the area and comes back to where you started. Probably about 1.5-2 miles length. Very interesting but some of the old holes are still open so be very careful not to fall in. If you notice a bit of excavation just across the fence, the government tried to get rid of some of the old tailings piles by burying them. Must be they had some money they needed to spend. Enjoy the views.
