This spot on Anglezarke Moor was once known as James Yates' Well. The water is undoubtedly clean here, and almost certainly drinkable, so in times gone by, this spot was obviously frequented by a James Yates. The well in question was actually on the south side of the brook, so from the cache location, hop over the brook and up the rough embankment, to see if you can see any physical evidence. Old remnants like this are easily forgotten and lost over time - especially as United Utilities, or North West Water as they were at the time, had a reputation of destroying any old structures that may have existed, where they ran near a watercourse.
