Geocache Description:

In order to find this cache, you must journey to Valley Falls State Park. This day-use park is located between Grafton and Fairmont, WV on state Route 310.

Go to the Valley Falls State Park. When you reach the bottom of the long drive into the valley, turn right, into the large gravel parking lot. At the far end of the lot, take the trail that runs parallel, but above the river. You need to always take the trails to the left. Eventually, you will come to a place where the trail to the left meets the railroad tracks. At this point, to your right is a trail to the right that leads to a creek that flows into the Tygart River. When you come to this creek, go across it and go upstream. There is a 15-20 foot waterfall (N 39 24.130 W 080 05.680). Keep it on your right, scale the rock ledge that actually is part of the falls.

At the top of this rocky area is an old campsite. To your right will be the flat rock that forms the streambed and the top of the falls. To your left is a four-wheeler trail. Follow it approx. 150 feet. Then leave the trail (heading to your left). Ahead of you is a steep hill. About 3/4 of the way up is the base of a large tree that was uprooted and fell toward where you stand. Go to the base of this tree and there you will find the cache. It is in a clear plastic container with a blue lid.
