Geocache Description:

Welcome to The NightFox's Hiking Challenge Series!

There are other challenges involving finding caches in certain elevation bands. This one is similar, but involves a lot more effort. This series is all about finding caches you have to hike to. The cache name indicates how many hiking caches you need to find for this level of the challenge and who you have to be tougher than to qualify. (That last part is subjective.)

The cache is at the posted coords, but you cannot log a find until you meet the requirements.

You have to find caches you have to hike to. This will involve a certain level of hiking effort, usually determined by elevation gain.
Attached to this cache page are 10 Bookmark Lists created by me. Each list has a number and a name of a well-known person who (subjecively) would be tough enough to get the caches in that list. A higher number also indicates increased difficulty.

In order to log this cache, complete the following requirements:
1. Create a public Bookmark List named something like "The NightFox's Hiking Challenge" or similar. Please also include this cache in your Bookmark List. (Please use the same Bookmark List for all levels of this challenge series as they are cumulative.)

2. Find a total of 10 "hiking caches: broken down according to the following:
  • 10 Bruce Willis caches

3. Add your found caches to your Bookmark List. For each cache added, please indicate in the Bookmark List note the date you found that cache (“Found mm/dd/yy”) and which level it belongs to ("90: Chuck Norris"). If you are the owner of that cache, indicate such (“owner”) along with the date and level.

4. Find this cache and sign the logsheet.

A few notes:
  • Found caches that are "unused" at a higher level can be substituted for lower level caches. (Example: You are working on the Level 60 Challenge and thus need one Level 60 cache, two level 50 caches, and three level 40 caches (among others at lower levels). If you have found two Level 60s, two Level 50s, but only two Level 40s. You can use your "excess" Level 60 to substitute for the "missing" 40. However, each cache only counts for one level (can't use it for Level 60 and Level 40).
  • All cache finds count regardless of whether they were made before or after publication of this challenge.
  • Feel free to find the cache and sign the log sheet at any time. Feel free to post a note on the cache page saying you did so. Then when you do qualify, post a “found it” log. Your “found it” log should have the date you qualified, not the date you signed the cache logsheet.
  • Caches in this series do not count toward qualifying for this challenge - even though they are in the bookmark lists. Don't try to pull this.
  • If you are interested in qualifying for this cache, feel free to create your Bookmark List and attach it to this cache even before you find it to help you keep track of your qualifying caches.
  • If you know of a hiking cache that you would like to see included in qualifying lists or this cache, please e-mail me the GC code and a brief explanation of why it should be included and I’ll see about getting it added.
  • The difficulty/terrain level of this cache is a reflection of the total effort necessary to get qualify for this cache. This cache without the challenge component would be around a 2.0/2.5.
  • The best place to park is at the Grove Creek Trailhead. There are facilities available there.
  • If you have questions, please ask.
  • If you do not like hiking, this cache is not for you. If you do not like challenge caches, this cache is not for you. If you do not like caches which require more than getting out of your car and lifting a lampskirt, this cache is not for you. Deal with it.
