I was looking for a spot to hide this cache while out caching in the woodlot on a beautiful winter's day. I approached a birch tree on which I wanted to hide the cache, and before I knew it, I had sunk up to my knees as though someone had opened a trap door (hence the name). I managed to work my way out and hid the cache a few trees over, where it seemed safer.
As the snow melts, it's exposing water around the cache, so be careful not to get too wet. It's likely easier to find it in the winter when everything is frozen.
