More to come........

Chria of OddballCachers showed up first to help set up. I was
cleaning because I had to work the morning shift. SQRT, Geoholic28,
Oldman, Monster, and Jessica headed to Columbia for that area's 10
Year Event. So I was left to clean. Do you know how much pollen
stays around and sticks to things??? Chria was looking for Ollie
and Momanell to help place things. Well, they were still at Kroger,
so he left to wake up Michelle. Something about a job……
Momanell, Ollie, and Tombstone soon showed up. We got everything
placed and started with food prep. Shortly after that, SQRT,
and the rest of the
Columbia crew arrived. Buckeye
and Kaboyd
arrived and showed us
the GREAT
banner that Vickie had
made for the meeting. It was even better than what I could ever
have asked for!!!! THANK YOU VICKIE!!! Momanell loved shopping for
this prize table. It was overflowing with swag!!!
Thank you so much
Momanell for the wonderful goodies and games that you got for all
the kids... BIG and small. We put up the banner and started the
fun. Some kids were fishing
(4 or 5 fish were on the
catch and release program). Kick balls were flying everywhere, the
big kids were telling fish stories (some big ones I heard) and all
of us were stuffing
ourselves with all the
great food that we had.
Chria was on the grill
for us and did a great
job with the burgers and dogs!!! Better than what I was able to
ever accomplish. We gathered everyone for the group
picture and I think it
was one of the best groups I have ever had the privilege to be a
part of. Thank you to the gentlemen for taking the picture for us.
You did a great job!!! (Speaking of job, you’re hired!!) We
started the raffle with the coveted FTF prize being awarded. Now
that didn’t go quite as planned. See, I had hidden a cache in
the back of Geoholic's truck. Well... he had a game to go to and
yep...the cache went with him! OOOOOPS!!! But Localbiz
did walk away with the
FTF. Well he didn’t actually win it, but one of his 9.... no
wait....8....or is it 10..... oh I don’t remember.... kids
won the prize. Good show Larry, good show. In fact, I think Larry
won most of the prizes we had! But I think in the end, everyone
walked away with a great prize. All throughout the day we had
cachers coming and going. Old cachers , some new cachers, and even
some non-cachers. We tried our best to introduce everyone, but when
we hit 60 or 70 cachers, we may have missed one or two. Sorry if we
did, we’ll get you next time!!!! We even had cachers from out
of town.
We wanted to thank you
for coming and hope that you will return for the next big event. As
night fell, out came the Tiki torches and the flashlights. I made 3
trips down to "Lights Out" with different cachers. On the last
trip, the group found the ammo can and we started our trip back to
the party. Well, it was dark, I was tired, and I was LOST!!! Male
side of SC-Kayaking had to get us back on the right path and out of
the woods. Thank you, Mike,
for saving the day!!!!
As the night came to a close, we started the dreaded cleaning
process to leave no trace behind. That should have been a CITO
event because everyone did a really great job. The official closing
time of the event???? 1:00 AM Thank you again to
Momanell, Ollie and
Tombstone, OddballCachers, Buckeye 79, Kaboyd, Clem & Izzie
(our honorary geo-dog)
, and SQRT for putting
together this fantastic event. And "Thank You" to everyone who came
and celebrated Geocaching's 10th birthday with us!! Happy Birthday
Signal!! I can’t wait for the next one!
Ok all you Geocachers..... come
join us in celebrating
10
years of Geocaching with Signal!
Everyone is invited
to come out and join with us in celebrating 10 years of Geocaching
from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the coordinates posted above. There will
be games for kids and adults.... and a little fishing.....(we have
the pond...you bring the gear).
Please bring your chairs, fishing gear, and coolers (for your catch
of the day).
If
there is anything (such as games, food, etc) anyone would like to
bring for this event, please let Ollie46 know. We will start grilling at 5
pm. There will be plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips,
sodas, etc, for everyone. There will also be a birthday cake and
ice cream.
Those
of you who attend the Aiken Event are welcome to drop by afterwards
and collect another smilie and icon. We will be taking pictures
throughout the event. Our group picture will be taken at 6:30
pm.
As
always, there will be a table set up for the tradeable items and
prizes.
We hope
everyone will join us in celebrating not only this terrific hobby
that we share, but also, the wonderful friendships it has given all
of us.

10 Years!
Events
Anyone can host a 10
Years! Event on either May 1 or May 2, 2010. Be sure to check your
local event calendar before submitting one, though: it may already
be planned. In addition to the standard event cache Guidelines,
there are a few additional guidelines that you will need to follow
if you wish your event to qualify for a 10 Years! cache type
icon.
Additional
Guidelines:
-
Events must be held on May 1 or May 2, 2010.
-
The name of the event needs to be formatted this
way: "10 Years! <your location>." For example: 10 Years!
Seattle, WA or 10 Jahre! Munich, Germany.
-
At least 10 people must attend the event.
-
Flashmobs do not qualify.
-
A video or picture must be taken at the event. At
least 10 attendees must be in the video/photo along with a legible
sign showing the event coordinates and location name.
-
The people in the video or photo should be
festive. Be inventive! But please keep it family friendly.
AND YES, THIS WILL
BE A NEW ICON FOR EVERYONE!!!!
