1st Warsash Sea Scouts - St Mary's Church, Warsash Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cornell Finch: With some sadness we have confirmed that this cache has indeed gone. I have nothing similar to replace this with and I am worried that the location is compromised for an ammo can.

I will put a new ammo can out nearby when I can get one, as a different cache.

Many thanks to all the finders, comments are much appreciated.

I did get the photos from the camera processed and when I find them I will upload them somewhere and link them on this cache page.

Geocache Description:

Please note that you do not need to enter the churchyard to find the cache.
.
This location gives a great starting point for other a number of other caches in the area and within a few minutes walk you can be looking at the sea and over to Southampton.

1st Warsash Sea Scout Group was formed on the 16th of June 1965 & originally met at the Hook with Warsash School until their headquarters was opened by the then Hampshire County Commissioner Mr. Roy Farmers J.P. M.B.I.M on the 13th of October 1990.

Two Cub packs, two Scout troops and a Beaver Colony make the group the largest in Fareham West District. You can find more information about the district at their website - www.fwscouts.org.uk. The group's website is currently down for a full rebuild but should be available fairly soon.

St Mary's Church was built in 1871. It is still in regular use for all types of service and can be visited most days.

The graveyard is a peaceful place to visit and there are headstones from the late 1870s if you can find them.

The cache itself is an ammo box! The only one in the immediate vicinity at the time of hiding I believe. Contents at placing included

Log book
glow in the dark necklaces
bubble pots
a selection of scouting badges/patches
and a few other childrens' toys.

There is also a disposable camera in the cache. Please feel free to take a photo of yourselves and return the camera to the cache. Will the person who takes the last photo please let me know so I can get it developed?

Good luck!
