Geocache Description:

On a dead end jeep trail

This is the first that takes you along jeep trail 314-12.9 which crosses Salt Springs Island.

This area is a good example of Wiregrass. Wiregrass is one of the most common grasses in the southern pine flatwoods and upland sandhills. It is a favorite food of gopher tortoises and quail and provides valuable cover for many birds, reptiles, and small mammals. A link on wiregrass
