Geocache Description:

>>> The Cache is NOT at the coords listed above. The coords are for a good parking spot outside the Singleton Cemetery off of Spaulding Drive. Clues to the final can be found nearby. <<<

Do NOT take any vehicles into the cemetery. Please be respectful of the surroundings.

[9/2/2011 Note: Changed the "formula" for locating the final, as the original set of numbers were replaced.]

While exploring my local area for a good spot to place a new cache, I stumbled upon this little cemetary tucked into a corner by a busy intersection. I've been driving past here pretty much weekly for the last couple of years and had not noticed it before.

"Singleton Cemetery rests on open flat terrain donated by the Singletons to benefit families allied with Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, located on Spalding Drive 1/4 mile northwest of the cemetery. The site is surrounded by residential neighborhoods (Spalding Bluff / Wynfield Trace) and large trees. Although woody shrub growth is unchecked, there is no active forest encroachment. Site is located in a suburban area adjacent to high traffic thoroughfares and should be monitored for human activity.

The cemetery is loosely organized into 18 rows and contains at least 25 anonymous graves, marked only by fieldstone head or foot markers. At least six war veterans are interred or memorialized here: (2) Confederate, (1) WWI, (3) WWII. "

Cache is not at the coords listed above. The listed coords are for a good parking spot outside the cemetary gate. At the listed coords you will see a set of 10 numbers. A = the last 4 digits.

Now to do some exploring. Of course please be respectiful of the surroundings. If you enter the cemetary from the gate and go roughly due south to the other side, you will see a fenced-in area. Just outside the fence is the grave stone for one of two Confederate Veterans in the cemetary, P.V. Singleton. Take a note of his age when he passed away . B = Age in whole years.

Not too far from PV, inside the fenced area, is the grave stone of a WW I Veteran, a Private in the Georgia 26th Infantry 1st Division. Make note of his age when he passed. C = Age in whole years (Round up to his next birthday)

Now for a little basic math to find the final location.

A = The last 4 digits of the number

B = Age of the Confederate Veteran

C = Age of the WW I Veteran.

Final Coords = "N 33 5 [6750 + A + B] W 084 [3070 + A + C]"

[Note: The final Coords are in the format N 33 5x.xxx W 084 1x.xxx and should be less than a 500 ft walk from Dock and PV's stones.]

Cache is a medium sized lock n lock with pen and logbook, room for small tradeables. Initial Cache contents are some office swag that has been cluttering my desk for too long. Also placing a TB to "Seed" the cache. (Coords were averaged over the course of 2 days with over 200 readings, but the tree cover kept throwing off my GPS. If your final coords differ from mine appreciably please PM me through the link at the top of the page)

>>>>>>>> Congrats to Johnccache and Team420_Georgia for the FTF - and the help in sorting out the final coords <<<<<<<< Update 03/29/2015- Moving out of State, Adopting out to GingerMerican. Thanks!
