Very simply, The Black Lantern Corps seeks death. Death to everything. They want to eliminate all life and emotion from the universe. They can raise the dead, as recruits in their corps. They remove their victim's heart and drain all the emotional energy from them.
Interestingly, the Black Lanterns are unable to revive the original Dove (Don Hall) who was an agent of Order. Also, when they scanned the new Dove (Dawn Granger), they see her aura as white, instead of any particular color of the emotional spectrum. Geocacher of Earth. Grab a power gem, and..... "RISE!" You are near Vault Hill, the family burial ground of the Van Cortlandt family, which was vandalized heavily in the 1960's.

Please be wary of muggles, and rehide well. ALSO, I saw a baby garter snake that thought it was a king cobra. Keep an eye out for wildlife too!
