Calling all
geocachers far and near to the 10th annual Kansas City area picnic.
In the past, we have had great attendance and hope we will again
this year. Please put this cache page on your watch
list. We are getting things organized and as time approaches
there will be more information.
CELEBRATE
with
your fellow geocachers at our 10th annual picnic. Let's make it a
festive event with fun, great food and
fellowship.
We have reserved shelter 10 which is
located on the south side of the park to the east of the RC flying
field. The parking in the immediate shelter area is somewhat
limited, but there is more parking to the north and to the east of
the shelter. The shelter can seat 170. There is plenty level, shady
area around the shelter so bring your lawn chairs and make
yourselves comfortable. Again, if you have tables to share for the
food line, that would be appreciated. Playground and restrooms are
nearby. Rules and regulations of the park system can be found
here.
Our choice of meat on the menu this year is bar-b-cued
pulled pork from Fritz's Meat Market on State Line Road
fried chicken like last year. As in the past, bring your favorite
picnic dish to share. Don't forget the drinks, water and ice.
Plates, cups and utensils will be provided..
We can't have a CELEBRATION without an anniversary cake and ice
cream to top off our picnic meal. Somehow that sounds soooo good to
close out our picnic.
If you feel you would like to donate towards the food or supplies
please contact Carlin at mogeo.picnic@gmail.com. Some of
you would like to hold events but don't have the time so maybe this
way you can feel involved in your caching community. The more
monies in our account the more fun we can have. A donation jar will
also be at the registration table when you sign in.
Shawnee Mission park has a large number of caches within it's
boundries and there are more than 100 caches within 2 miles of the
picnic site. There should be plenty of caches available for all
those coming to the area for the picnic.
T-SHIRTS:
We will again have an annual picnic t-shirt. Available Sizes: Youth
XS 6/8, S 10/12, M 14/16, L 18/20 Adult S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL.
To place your orders please send an email to mogeo.picnic@gmail.com. Please
have your orders in by August 6th. Pick up and payment will be on
picnic day. We now have firm prices. Sizes up to XL will be $10.00
and 2XL - 4XL will be $12.00. Any shirts ordered the day of the
picnic will cost an additional $3.00 to cover postage. The rear of
the shirts will look like THIS.
ACTIVITIES:
GEO BINGO – Get to know your fellow cachers. Lots of people
enjoyed this last year. Great way to break the ice.
GEO GOLF
COINS and BUGS – Buy, sell, trade or move. (bring your own
tables)
DRAWINGS – Donated items are appreciated
We have some creative caching minds out there. If you have some
games or activity that would add to our celebration please feel
free to share.
Please post a Will Attend note. You can optionally note what
you are bringing. For all those new to our caching community,
please state your caching name and first names of those in your
party so we can make up name tags. Also, that gives us a heads up
to how much meat to order.
