Geocache Description:

Should be a quick Park and grab.

The homes in The Pine Crest Historic District were constructed between 1911 and 1935. Most of the homes in the area are Bungalow style. The area is bordered by San Carlos St, Coronado Ave, Yavapai and Apache Drives. As you drive through the area you will see many plaques on the homes designating their historical status.

In the summers of 1927 and 1928 Former President Richard Nixon lived in one of the homes when his brother became ill with tuberculosis. Prescott had several sanatoriums in the area that specialized in treating tuberculosis patients.

The neighborhood was also the home to my best friend, Mike and my sixth grade teacher, Mr Neely. When I visited Mr. Neely recently he reminded me that he mentioned to my father in a parent-teacher conference that I never showed up to class with a pencil. The next day I arrived at school will a pencil securely attached to a string around my neck. For the rest of the school year I wore my pencil necklace.
