Geocache Description:

Unless you are a very, very good swimmer, bring a boat for this one.

The cache is hidden in a tupperware container with a green lid. It is located on an island in the middle of one of the beautiful lakes in Winter Park. The lake is part of the chain of lakes. The chain consists of seven lakes connected by canals. There are many beautiful homes on these lakes so plan on spending some time exploring, swimming, fishing, ect.

The island has a picnic table and bar-b-que grill on it. Spend the night if you wish. This would be a good cache trip for any type of boat, but if your boat has a motor, you will need a permit. You can obtain an annual, one or two day permit at either the Winter Park Library located at N28'35.734 W081'20.794 or the Maitland Community Park located at N28'38.321 W081'21.078. To determine the one day charge, add the length of your boat (in feet) and the horse power of your boat. Multiply this number by 15 cents for non-residents of Winter Park or Maitland or by 10 cents if you are a resident. Don't forget your boat registration!

The closest public boat ramp to the cache is located at Ft. Maitland (N28'37.202 W081'21.842). The only other public ramp on the chain is located at Dinky Dock Park (N28'35.644 W081'20.680). From Dinky Dock, your are about 1.76 miles (straight line) from the cache. You will need to go through two canals to get to the lake the cache is located on.

Enjoy!
