Tall Timber Where's Lonesome Bench for Princrissy Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Geocaching HQ Admin: The City of Portland has a new geocaching policy for geocaches placed on Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) property. The policy is intended to support the growing recreational activity of geocaching while also ensuring it does not negatively impact parks, properties, assets, staff or the public.

PP&R welcomes geocaches in many of its parks and properties. However, the property where this geocache is located is one that does not allow geocaches according to the new policy. (Note: Forest Park is divided into three management units - the northernmost unit between Germantown Road and Newberry does not allow geocaches.)

There are many reasons a park may not allow geocaches, based on the determination of the staff who manage each particular site. These reasons can include that the property’s primary focus is on habitat values, the potential conflicts with other park users, among other factors. Because this geocache is in a park that does not allow them, it been archived. As the geocache owner, you are expected to retrieve the geocache container and any associated physical stages within 2 weeks. After August 27th, your geocache may be removed by parks’ staff or other designated persons.

For questions about this policy, please contact Bryan Aptekar, Portland Parks & Recreation, bryan.aptekar@portlandoregon.gov.

Geocache Description:

Warning This is Not an Easy Cache The container is a regular and will be no problem finding once you're standing on it there however getting to that point will be a challenge. You will need to bring your own pencil but that is just my trade mark.

Ok, this is not your run of the mill cache and it is a serious hike not that the fire road is full of brush but it is a steady downward 16% grade and in 1400 feet you'll drop 160ft and then another 100' to the bottom of the trail to then 60' up to the cache. The cache does require bushwhacking and in the winter it will be best and in summer the under growth will love to entangle you, no blackberries. You'll have some huffing up to the cache but that is what will give you some satisfaction in this one.

You don't need to read the logs. This cache deserves it's stars, If you wish to post your coordinates that is fine however do not post visual references. Your GPS is going to jump all over. I had tracks on when I sit this cache and the location drifts all over.

From 100 yds away you will see the cache location as you come down the trail. Take good note of what is there because it is about objects, significant objects. Yep, when you finally get there you will need a Princrissy for sure.

There is no tree climbing it is all terrain and bushwhacking and then the return up the hill. There will be five caches on this trip if all works out and the reward of smileys will be well worth it and deserved...

I've given a hint because this cache is worth it's stars. But I don't want you not to find the cache. If you have to have the hint, please logged that you used it to honor those who do not use the hint.

This cache had an average of 265 hits to calculate it location. So, yes it is not a piece of cake location and hence it's high rating.

Happy caching,
