Geocache Description:

Come and celebrate 10 years of Geocaching at an event in beautiful Sheringham Park as the rhododendrons and azaleas begin to bloom.

12 noon 'til 6pm

On 3rd May 2000 the first cache was hidden by Dave Ulmer. On Monday 8th March 2010 the number of active caches worldwide exceeded one million.

This is your opportunity to meet friends old and new to share your caching stories, your coin collections some fun and even some new caches.

The above co-ordinates are for the car park (NT parking fees apply unless you are a member) and we will meet near the refreshment kiosk where we will have a couple of Gazebos on the grass.

Programme:

12:00 Munch and Mingle.
Refreshments can be purchased at the kiosk or bring your own picnic. Meet new friends, put names to cachers, share caching stories and coins etc. Enter the cache competition.

1:15. Photo Shoot.
To qualify as a 10 year event (and get a special icon on your profile page) we must submit a festive photo of our group.

What is festive about1st May? I hear you ask.

In old England the May Queen was crowned on this day and traditionally, it is the day the Morris Men perfom their dances up and down the country so, for the photo at least, we'd like all the males with bells and hankies (or whatever their interpretation of Morris men may be - and do remember, this is a family occasion) and all the females with flowers in their hair as May queens.

1:30 We'll cut the 10 year birthday cake.

1:45. Release of 12 new caches. They will not go live until the next day so there will be printouts giving everyone a chance of FTF.

The new caches will be set by:
pamjohn, Goldwing 1300, Scruffy dogs, pc&pc, No.3 Engine,Suffield Hunters and ourselves in or near the park.

Other caches in or near the park which you may want to do in the morning are:
GC1QFE5 In Sight of one tree hill.
GCX8QA A Stroll in the Park.
GC1N1WE Beside the Lake, Beneath the Tree.
GC18X5R Old Shuck.
GCXEHR Muddle and go Nowhere
GC18CRR Mermaids Mystery.
.

Congratulations to Mike of Suffield Hunters. Spot on with the weight of the cache. 8lb 2oz and one of the last cachers to have a guess. We'll look forward to searching this one out.

The youngest cacher was a member of the Nomadski team.

The oldest cacher was a member of the Squiffs team
