Elephant Head Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is for someone who's looking for a challenging little hike.
Please note the parking co-ordinates listed below. This cache is set up for someone who is not afraid of a hike. You park at the co-ordinates listed, then cross the highway, there is a spot where the fence has been laying on the ground for many years. You can pick any of the very steep ridges to climb up from there. Watch out for cactus as any other caches around the Ashcroft area. It took me about 1 hour to walk up the hill to the cache. It is very steep with a 20 to 40 degree slope and poor footing in many areas. After you get to the top of the hill, there is a dirt road you take up to make the hiking easier, it will take you right to the cache. The cache and this "trail" you will hike up is on Provincial park property. IF you attempt to access this cache through the farm to the south, you'll be trespassing. IF you attempt to access the cache on the west side of Elephant hill, you'll be trespassing.
After finding the cache, why not head over to Elephant Tail cache, which is an easier hike, but still not easy.
Parking on the highway co-ordinates...
