Having never found a cache dedicated to the U.S. Coast Guard, like all of the other Armed Forces we decided to dedicate one entirely to them. The Recruiting office in Pittsburgh was very helpful in our stocking of this large ammo container.
Starting off there are T-shirts, pens, pencils, water bottles, cups, tote bags and other miscellaneous items. We will watch this and restock as necessary.
An easy walk along a paved trail, there should not be any difficulity once off on the trail.
Having served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 8 ½ years I have a special fondness for it. I was fortunate enough to have been selected for duties as a Special Agent, Coast Guard Intelligence and had the opportunity to travel and meet a lot of people. My duties there gave me a very good education and helped my with my 21 years with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The U.S. Coast Guard was formed on August 4, 1790, known as the Revenue Marine and Revenue Cutter Service. Since its creation the U.S. Coast Guard has taken on many jobs and has had to wear many hats to complete the wide variety of jobs assigned to it. Formally under the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Transportation the Coast Guard now is an agency working for the Department of Homeland Security.
The motto of the Coast Guard is “ Semper Paratus,” Latin for “Allways Ready.”
