Immediately after passing Venzone north, take the road that leads to the houses of village Sottomonte (270 m, parking). Follow a few yards the road that goes up the valley Venzonassa until you see the signs on the left of the CAI No 705. The trail, paved and surrounded by a stone wall, runs into a bush, reaching, after a while, an altarpiece. Here it meets the paved road that goes to the left followed by a short stretch to the houses of Mastru (m 376). On the shelf of the settlement, due to disruption of plant cover, you open a first view into the valley of the Tagliamento.
Now continue the easy path that rises to a constant slope always surrounded by a thicket enveloping composed mainly of manna ash, hornbeam, hazel and oak. The stones that make up the bottom of the trail are still visible ruts carved in the past by the passage of the sleds used for transport downstream. The uniform color in winter evergreens stand out ivy, heart-shaped leaves of a few early primroses and cyclamen. It is not uncommon in this part and seeing the deer fled into the woods, alerted by our presence. Having ignored the right track that leads to some ruined Stavoli The path continues through a series of small scree colonized by hornbeam and juniper. At an altitude of 880 shows us a sign at the junction to reach our goal. CAI n.705 then abandon the path to get to the right n.705a that after a modest loss of altitude, quickly earning the small shelf on which stands the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, dating from the fourteenth century.
