Geocache Description:

A small container with a few swaps and log book. Hidden in an area of calm in a area of previous heavy industry. And now regeneration. The ponds area actually attenuation ponds.

In 1956 the Steel company of Wales opened a tinplate factory in Felindre near Bryntywod,Swansea. By 1970 it employed 2,500 people and produced 490,000 tonnes per annum. It closed in 1989. The site is now a regeneration site and the grounds also hosted the National Eisteddfod in 2006.
The attenuation ponds were provided for the drainage of the site they also control the discharge into the Afon Lan.
The ponds are a area of calm in amongst a industrial area and regeneration. Take time to stop and look. A wide variety of wildlife call this home. This might be better tackled in the day although available 24/7. Wellies may be neccesary at times as it can be a bit boggy.
