Geocache Description:

A nice little walk out to the deep water channel of Stockton. Easy access and parking. Take some time to look around, lots of history and modern art.

At the turn of the 20th century, the Stockton Chamber of Commerce worked tirelessly for the creation of a deep water channel. In the 1920's local bonds were passed and federal support was acquired resulting in a deep water channel and port being completed in 1933.
The Port of Stockton became California's first inland seaport, the most inland of all west coast ports, and marked the beginning of the modern era of the city.
