Geocache Description:

Bunnerungee Bridge on the Darling Anabranch.

60km north of wentworth on the Silver City Hwy , In western New South Wales the Great Darling Anabranch is the ancestral path of the Darling River, dividing south of Menindee and extending for 460km before joining the Murray River. Traditionally the anabranch contained flowing water only in wetter years. 39 Outback homesteads relied on the occasional flows and ponds and Weir pools stored water for livestock and domestic use. However in recent years and decreasing flows a 210km long pipeline was put in place to supply these. See Pipeline Project (visit link)

From Wikipedia - An anabranch is a section of a river or stream that diverts from the main channel or stem of the watercourse and rejoins the main stem downstream. Local anabranches can be the result of small islands in the watercourse. In larger anabranches, the flow can diverge for a distance of several kilometres before rejoining the main channel.

Cache is a small Cliptop Container and a welcoming picturesque leg stretching stop (phew) for the trip to Broken Hill.
