Geocache Description:

A cache at beatiful monastery near Elounda.

The cache is located at the monastery of st Aretio(Trinity).
The monastery looks like an oasis because of around stones, thorn bushes and little trees low, unlike in the monastery will see towering pines and cypress trees, and flowers.
The monastery is dedicated to St. Trinity and has two churches. On the foundation of the Monastery there is the following legend. In the middle of the Venetian occupation of Crete while the relationship with the occupiers had somewhat returned to normal, a resident of the area worked in one of the Venetian port of Crete. He learned Italian and made many friends Venetians. One of them asked him to come to Venice at the wedding of his daughter. There he met a group of Venetian to discuss of his place, Not knowing the Venetians that he speaks their language they talked comfortable, draw up a plan to go in the area where the monastery today is and search for a treasure that was there hidden. The curse was that those who pull the cap off the cauldron will die.
The Cretan that he had heard it all and knowing the area was hidden the cauldron with the pound, went first, looked for and found the cauldron, then fastened the lid of the cauldron into a donkey, the animal just walked and pulled the lid and it fell dead. So our friend was very rich and in words of gratitude to God who helped him, he built this monastery in this place which is rocky and barren with very wild beauty.
The cache is next to the parking place. Please have a look at the spoiler photo and be careful of the muggles.
