When: June 12th and
13th (This is a two day trip that requires an overnight stay

Camping Friday
night: If you wish to camp Friday night Rochelle's has
camping. You may want to call ahead to reserve a spot as soon as
you can. If you would like free camping. I have property on
Possum Kingdom Lake with plenty of room for camping, shower,
toilet, a pavilion, dock to swim or fish, there are a bunch of
caches around and not to forget a million dollar view of the lake.
There are several great restaurants also. If you wish to camp at
our place on PK call me at 817-881-5499 or email me at dougshep@charter.net for
directions. All are welcome as there is plenty of room.
You can cook out, party in the pavilion. Bring your own water
as we do not have fresh drinking water. The Coordinates to the
property at PK is N 32 53.148 W 098 27.853
Length: Nineteen
and half miles with over night camping along the river. Rochelle's
will drop us of just below the Morris Sheppard Dam at Possum
Kingdom Lake and we will float back down to Rochelle's.
We will be meeting at Rochelle's on Saturday
morning at 9:00 AM on HWY 4, from there they will transport us to
the entry point at the Dam by 10 AM. We need to be in the water by
at least 10:00 AM in order to be well past the halfway point by
sundown.
Cost: Cash or check only no Credit or Debit
Cards
Rental Per Canoe $50.00 2 persons per
canoe
= $25.00 per person
Deposit per canoe is refundable
$20.00
= $10.00 per person
Transportation to the entry point $25.00 divided by 7 to 8
persons = $3-$4 per person
So approximately $40.00 per person with $10.00 deposit refund grand
total of $30.00
Rochelle's only
takes CASH or CHECK only no Credit or Debit Cards
What you will find: There are 22 caches
including 1 multi along the way only accessible by canoe. Best of
all they are a Terrain of five due to the fact you need a canoe.
Here is the chance to get a ton of 5 terrain stars.
These have been placed by Speedowl, H2GUY,
Langly, Dr. Finkelstein and BigBoyMax.
Rochelle's is providing only the Canoe, Paddles,
and Safety Vests. We will have to bring all the other
necessities.
We will need to bring: Tents, bedding, coolers,
toilet items, food, drinks, cooking devices, utensils and all other
provisions.
Space in the canoes will be limited. So
the provisions and equipment will have to be divided and persons
assigned to bring certain items so we are not duplicating
things. For example we don't need a grill for each canoe only
what we need to meet the needs of the group. A few people
bring coolers, etc. If we have 40 people and 20 canoes we may only
need 4 or 5 coolers for drinks, meat, etc., maybe 4 camp stoves or
grills - kind of like that. Of course you will need to bring a tent
and sleeping bag and other small personal items.
We could do a meal share for the meals. Everyone
bring something to share
So check back often for updates as things may
change.
I will bring several water tight buckets with
screw on lids for us to use also.
