This old cache was rated a 1/1 in November 2001. The original hiding spot has long deteriorated over the years to the point where there is no place to put a small container not to mention a regular as it once was. This is such a neat area, we decided to moved the hide a little over 50 feet down the road. With the bluff on one side, you cannot get an accurate reading on your GPS, so by averaging two different GPS'rs and using ExpertGPS, the coordinates at the top of the page are fairly accurate.
You will never get your GPS or phone to reach ground zero, so follow these instructions for the smiley. Walk on the creek side of the road until your unit shows a 90 degree arrow to the cache. Mark that spot, then continue walking about 50 feet before turning around and doing the same thing again from the other direction. When you mark that spot, somewhere between your two marked spots, on the other side of the road, is where you should look. UPDATE: The parking at the corner now has a No Parking Sign, so I have moved the parking coordinate. From the South end of the bridge concrete, walk about 50 steps South, then cross the street to the cache. There is now some blue graffiti painted on the rock wall in two places. The cache is within those two spots. The cache is now a 6 inch long Preform under a the rock crevice, covered by small flat rocks. Please put the flat rocks back after you hide it. If you are in a wheelchair you will need a long grabber to reach this one.
Watch out for traffic! When you find the cache, take it across the street to a safer area to sign the log. Please hide it back better than you found it, but in the same spot!
