The VSP Douthat Wildlife Adventures Cache, also known as “The
Bear Necessities”, is a multi cache located in the mountain
woodlands of Douthat State Park. It is a three stage multi cache
and instructions will be provided in each stage. Along the way, you
might discover some fun facts about one of Virginia’s most
interesting wild animals.
The stages are in 64 oz. Plastic Lock &
Lock ® Boxes. Enjoy your trip to Douthat State Park. It is possible
to walk between the stages, but you may want to drive and park in
the locations indicated in each stage.
This
cache was part of the 2010 Virginia State Parks Geocaching Wildlife
Adventure. This series ended on December 15, 2010. However, the
park has taken over this cache so it is still active. Rewards are
no longer available for this cache, but we will be launching the
Virginia State Parks 75th Anniversary Geocaching Adventure in March
