Geocache Description:

The shown coords is the first step (point) of instructions. Execute the instructions start from there. The program consists of 6 steps (incl. first and final) between Shin Sugita stn. and Tomioka stn.

There're two Japan's top technologies between Shin Sugita and Tomioka.

One of them is the "Earth Simulator" by JAMSTEC/NEC, which had been world's No. 1 speed record among world's supercomputers durling 2002-2004. Current SX-9/E/1280M160 (2009-) has 131TFLOPS which is world's No. 37 (June 2010). On 2010, a ranking of FFT (fast fourier transform, heavily used for meteorological analyze etc.) region of HPC challange award, the NEC SX-9/E system marks No. 1 in the world again.

Another one is the Nippi (Nihon airplane) Co., which has developed YS-11, the only Japanese civil aircraft.

Around here, also the Yokohama Nambu (sourthern) fish market is a sightseeing point. We can buy fishes, or enjoy market restaurant there.

The Earth Simulator is developed for simulating the earth using computer. This time your mission is simulating computers using the earth.

You'll need instruction register/L1 cache (pen and notebook) to store the fetched instructions. If you strictly execute the program, you will run (OK to walk) totally 84mi, but you can use cache, prefech and pipelining technique so that you visit only once for each step and reduce the distance to 3.1mi.

All the steps are accessible while in DMA (nights/sat/sun/holidays), but not recommended to hit the cache at night.

ひとつは海洋技術機構の『地球シミュレータ』です。2002年から2004年の間、世界最高の計算速度を誇っていました (現在のSX-9/E/1280M160 (2009年～) は、2010年6月現在世界37位です)。 2010年には、HPCチャレンジアワードの高速フーリエ変換 (FFT、気象の解析などに使われる) でNEC SX-9/Eは再度、1位に輝きました。

もうひとつはニッピ(日本飛行機)です。国産唯一の旅客機であるYS-11の開発に参加していました。

他にこの近辺には、南部市場があります。魚を(個人への卸売りという形で)買えるばかりではなく、市場食堂なども楽しめます。

地球シミュレータは、コンピュータを使って地球のシミュレーションを行なうために開発されました。今回あなたには、地球を使ってコンピュータのシミュレーションを行なっていただきます。

それぞれのステップを訪れる際には、命令を記録するための命令レジスタ/L1キャッシュ(筆記用具とメモ)を用意してください。まともにプログラムを実行しようとすると、最終ステップまで合計135kmほど歩くことになりますが、命令先読み・パイプライン技術により各ステップを1度ずつのみ訪れれば、この距離は4.9kmほどに短縮できるでしょう。

すべてのステップはDMA中 (夜間・土日休日)も訪れることはできますが、最終キャッシュは夜に訪れるのはお勧めしません。
