Geocache Description:

6 miles south of Dayton off Hwy 146 and CR 1314. Terrain is discernible with no risk involved. No clear paths exist. There is a safe area to park off the roadway. CR 1314 has very light traffic. Hwy 146 intersecting it is under construction. Please use caution when exiting onto CR 1314.

The terrain rating is accurate. The cache is accessed by the ROADWAY in broad DAYLIGHT (You will have a DIFFICULT time finding this cache at night).

Dayton, on U.S. Highway 90 six miles west of Liberty in southwestern Liberty County, was first called West Liberty and was considered part of the original town of Liberty, founded in 1831. The Trinity River divided the two parts of the town: Liberty was on its east bank, and West Liberty was on a hill three miles west of the river. A new road and a ferry directly connected the two. Sometime after 1854, West Liberty also became known as Day's Town, for I. C. Day, a wealthy landowner who resided just to the south of the town on the Munson league. The flag stop for the Texas and New Orleans Railroad, completed in 1860, was known variously as West Liberty, Days Station, and Dayton Station.

You are hunting for a 12 inch tape camouflaged cylindrical container. The container is 2 inch wide PVC pipe and one end is permanently sealed. Cache is not in plain site and faces north toward the small hidden creek. Contents included small swag items, logbook, and pen.

Note: Please exercise caution when entering and exiting the roadway. There is a safe place to park near the GZ. Also, please return cache to its concealed appearance as you found it. Thank you!
