Mid-America Council, Cache to Eagle #2 - Loyal Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hwbas04: Time to archive this cache. Stopped by today and could not find it near its previous hiding spot. Also a chain is around the tank saying to keep off. Guess the nearby Legion Club had a change of heart about the cache. Noticed the paint peeling again on the tank which was probably the reason for the chain around it.

Geocache Description:

The location of this cache is the site of a recent Boy Scout Eagle project that was organized and completed in May 2009 by Alex from Troop 496 in La Vista. Alex completed and earned his Eagle badge in February 2010. His project included the sanding and repainting the tank and attached pieces to the specifications of the Gretna American Legion. The project was completed over 2 weekends and included numerous service hours by members of Troop 496 and others.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that — on average — requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51).This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions. Over its first 100 years, Scouting has provided millions of hours of service to communities across America. For our 100th Anniversary, we’re celebrating that legacy with special service opportunities through 2010 A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference. You can join us, and even earn a commemorative patch! Visit Scouting.org/100years to learn more.

This "Cache to Eagle" cache may be familiar to local cachers as it was the long time site of a now archived cache. The hint is the same as the original.

Please use common sense when hunting and please replace the cache where it was found. Overnight caching is not allowed and logs reflecting this will be deleted.

Thanks to Rich from the nearby American Legion to allow the placement of this cache
