This cache is dedicated to Woodrow Stanley Lloyd (July
16,1913 to April 7, 1972).
The cache is located in close proximity to Lloyd Place. A
provincial government building built in 1959 and dedicated to
Saskatchewan’s 8th Premier, Woodrow Lloyd in 2005. As
Premier, Lloyd was responsible for implementing the Universal
health care plan that Tommy Douglas had introduced. Medicare was
later extended to all provinces and territories in Canada as a
result of the Saskatchewan experiment.
Woodrow Lloyd was Premier of Saskatchewan from November 7, 1961
to May 2, 1964. He was defeated in 1964 by Ross Thatcher’s
Saskatchewan Liberal Party.
