Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates. To find this you will need to work out the answers to the questions below. This is a very simple multi-cache that shold not require more than half an hour to complete.

" The Lord Loveth The Gates Of Zion"

Carriden Parish dates back to the early 1200s. The first church was built in 1243 and some of its ruins can still be seen near Carriden House. The current church is the third for this parish and the largest. According to Historic Scotland, the current church, was completed in 1909 when the one next it was deemed to small for the congregation, leaving it to fall into its current condition with no roof or glazing. This building, built in 1776, now forms part of the graveyard with many graves now inside the church, hence the cache title. Despite the condition of this building, I think it is the best looking. There is something about an old church that holds you and pulls you in, something truly enchanting. This is no exception, with its graveyard being a home to a Dr and a knighted Sir, and is the one you will be required to walk around for this cache.

Within the graveyard you will find the grave and memorium of Dr John Roebuck, No Ordinary Man. A true "polymath" (a person of wide learning) Dr John Roebuck is sometimes viewed as the founder of the heavy chemical industry, taking as he did the process of sulphuric acid making from small scale laboratory glassware to vast lead chambers and commercial viability. He was also a co-founder and driving force behind the famous Carron Ironworks, the first large scale integrated factory in Europe.
His grave is now a memorium to him and has a plaque all about his life. His headstone is all in Latin and Greek, however there is a full translation on this plaque.

Now on with the cache. To find this cache you will need to find the answers to the questions below. I haven't given waypoints for the clues as I want everyone to have to walk around this amazing graveyard. All answers can be found in and around the old church not the new one or the new cemetery. This cache shoud be okay for wheelchair users, however there are lumps and bumps over graveyard and a small slope to final location but is on a good dirt path
