O Moinho do Frade é um moinho de vento classificado como imóvel de interesse público, situado no Lajido da Criação Velha, paisagem património da cultura da vinha e é um excelente miradouro sobre esta. Este moinho foi todo recuperado, sendo um excelente local a visitar e nos meses de verão costuma estar aberto ao público. O moinho do Frade encontra-se inserido num percurso pedestre bastante interessante denominado Vinhas da Criação Velha (PR5PIC), o qual tem uma extensão de 8 km, tempo de 2 horas e um grau de dificuldade fácil. “Descrição: Este trilho começa no Porto do Calhau, termina na Areia Larga e tem a duração de cerca de 2 horas. No início segue junto à linha de costa durante cerca de 1km, até chegar a um monte, que deve ser contornado pela direita. Depois, junto ao cruzamento que se segue, entra pelas vinhas e segue até ao moinho assinalado, um miradouro de onde se tem uma visão panorâmica dos currais das vinhas. Neste trilho pode apreciar-se uma boa perspectiva dos ilhéus “em pé e deitado”, também designados ilhéus da Madalena. Na área das vinhas deve seguir atentamente as indicações dos sinais. Quando sair dessa zona estará novamente junto ao mar, por onde o trilho continua até terminar na Areia Larga. Durante o percurso, sempre que encontrar os sinais próprios deve procurar os “rilheiros”, rastos das carroças que faziam o transporte das pipas de vinho. Nesses casos, sempre que se afastar do trilho, deve voltar depois ao trilho principal. Pede-se aos caminhantes que não apanhem fruta em nenhuma parte do percurso.” A cache está escondida no percurso pedestre, não saltem ou vão para as vinhas. Depois de encontrar a cache, por favor coloque-a de novo no mesmo local bem disfarçada.
