Geocache Description:

This cache is situated above an impressive 23m waterfall - the Spout of Craighorn on the Glenwhinnel burn.
You can approach from Alva Glen but there is a steep climb up grass and a burn crossing which could be difficult in wet weather. The cache is rated for an approach from here.

The Spout of Craighorn is about .25 mile from Smuggler's Cave. Footpaths are reasonably good but can be slippery after wet weather. Children should be supervised at all times to ensure their safety. From the burn there are no paths until you reach the landrover track above the waterfall and you will be climbing a steep grassy slope.

A safer alternative is to approach from the landrover track which runs along the western base of The Nebit. Access from either Woodland Park carpark or by taking the track from Alva Glen east over open ground towards the Silver Burn to meet up with the landrover track at the zigzags.
The landrover track is a 3 mile round trip.

The long tailed Grey Wagtail can be seen in the Glen all year round and Kestrels are often spotted up in the rocky cliffs. Small roe deer may be seen at quiet times. Butterflies such as the Common Blue are in abundance.
