Welcome to Cobar! Located 712km northwest of Sydney, this town of 6,000 people relies heavily on the 3 active mines in the area. Most businesses either work for, or cater for the mines and the workers in the mines.
The town was founded in the 1870's, when copper was discovered in the area. The Great Cobar Open Cut mine was the first mine to open, in 1878, a copper mine which operated until 1920. Gold, Lead, Silver and Zinc were discovered in the area during the 1980's, and since then there have been more mining operations began, and constant searching for more mineral deposits in the area.
The cache is a micro magnetic container. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Cobar!
