Cache Located in beautiful and historical Halstead High Street
According to Dorreen Potts' book 'Look back at Halstead' – available from Halstead museum (located in Townford mill complex (straddles the river colne) – and very well worth a visit). The gateway dates back to Tudor period and at one time had two massive gates (you can still see the remains of the hinges) The gateway lead through to 'Town Garden' at the rear of the high street and was part of the Old vicarage grounds. There is an amusing ancient sign – which is just about legible – which shows how times have changed. Whereby a simple sign was enough to stop mischief from local youngsters !!
The cache is a micro film container – with a log roll (minus pen). Please take care to conceal again properly [there are muggles about]
