I gave this a terrain rating of 2 only due to the drive. Please, Please, PLEASE be cautious of logging trucks in this area during the work week, as this is an active logging road. This road is also one of 2 only accesses to the town of Brooklyn, the other access being on the other side of town and will take you to Aberdeen. The walk to the cache is quite easy, and less than 100 feet from parking (Which is well off the logging road).
I named this cache after my 3 month old daughter, Ruby. After a long morning I decided to load Ruby into the car so she could get some sort of sleep. As I began to drive I found myself driving to this spot, which I do when I just need some peace. On a clear day you have a good view of Mt. Rainier. I wish I had some cool info about the area, but I'm pretty sure it is Weyerhaeuser who logs the area. I had the cache container rolling around in the trunk of my car for months, so I figured it was a perfect day to place it. The FTF get's a $5 and a free coffee at the "Avenue" coffee stand in Grand Mound (That's all I was armed with in my car). Congrats to lockettfamily for your FTF!!! And thanks for the "Cache In - Trash Out" mention. This area is in need! UPDATE: 3-29-2020 Ten Years later. We are amidst the corona virus in the world. We have been on mandatory isolation in this state. Since placing this cache I now have two children, who are now going stir-crazy. We got out of the house as a family for a solitary drive. We randomly found ourselves driving up into these hills (as all state parks are closed). Half way up I mentioned to my kids I had a cache up there. Naturally they said they had to find it! BOY OH BOY how things have changed in a short 10 years (and two days). No longer can you drive right to the cache. Also, No longer is it a wide-sweeping view. You now have to park at the bottom of the short road, traverse a couple ditches and navigate your way through some trees. But, the cache is still safely put. There was water in the cache but the log is nice and dry. Cache on!
