Geocache Description:

"The Devil Made me do it" cache is located on the Devil's Nose Trail in Sleepy Creek WMA. To see more details and driving directions visit Devil's Nose cache ( GC1WNHR). THIS CACHE IS A TRUE 4/4.5. I have done a 5/5 that wasn't this difficult. I would suggest it will take over and hour to find this cache.

The very first time I saw this location I was hiking with WVGrammy and I paused in awe!! I think her exact words were, " don't even think about it, someone will kill themselves trying to get it". Well, she was shopping today and I was out showing a new cacher around who just happen to be 28 yrs. old and his exact words were, "YOU HAVE TO PUT a cache there!!!"

The cache is located in a huge rock crevice with extremely steep walls. See the picture at the right, that is the cache area. Special climbing gear is not "required". I am nearing 60 and I placed this cache without ropes or any special gear, BUT you are one slip away from what would be a very dangerous fall. You will be climbing, no special tools or equipment are REQUIRED - BUT ROPES WOULD BE VERY, VERY BENEFICIAL!!! There are several ways to access this cache, none easy.

I would suggest it is not for the faint of heart, retrieval will require varying measures of stamina and dexterity. The faint of heart should attend this location with the stout-hearted. Do not attempt this cache alone.

The area is beautiful. This crevice is breath taking. The overlook less than 100 ft from this cache is worth the hike.

This cache is located between Devil's Nose -Near the top cache (GC1WNHR) and Devil's Nose - Downhill ( GC1WY4).

The container is a small official Geocaching Lock-n-Lock. Clear plastic with the Geocaching logo embedded in the top.

DISCLAIMERS : I recommend you DO NOT ATTEMPT this cache alone. Be sure to bring along at least one partner for safety reasons. Please use your best judgment in deciding whether to tackle this difficult cache. This is NOT a cache for families or children. It does require climbing around dangerous rocks, a fall could result in death. Like many Terrain 4.5 caches, this can be a dangerous or even deadly cache for the untrained or unprepared! A team effort of two or more experienced seekers, with suitable technical gear, would make it much easier and safer. No one is forcing you to read this cache description nor to seek this cache. If you choose to seek this cache, you do so only of your own free will and fully and totally on your own responsibility. If you decide to tackle this cache, you take full responsibility for any and all damages, harm, injury or death which may befall you or your companions. If you decide to tackle this cache, you understand that the cache owners, the cache listing websites, and any and all other organizations (including city and state governments) are NOT responsible for any injury, inconvenience or death which may befall you or your team members.
