Geocache Description:

Close to where you'll park, might be a bit tricky for some

I raced stock cars at Unity. The whole idea was not mine! I had a client approach me and ask if I would race his car. My so called "friends" that evening suggested that this would be a fun thing we could all do together on Saturday nights. I had no clue whatsover what was to happen.

I found a local mechanic who had raced at Unity for many years and together we got the car ready. First Saturday night race at Unity Raceway was quite a show. There were a whole bunch of folks that the owner, now a client, Ralph Nason, said had obviously never been to a race track. Well guess what, neither had I!!!!

So in the 35 lap feature, there was 7 cautions, 6 which I either caused or "joined in the melee" according to the track reporter's account of the evening!

But at age 50 everybody should pick up a new hobby and in the biggest and last race of the season, the "LongJohn 100" (I'm not making that up) I managed a 2nd place finish and passed the tech post race inspection. ( Must have been Ray Charles checking the car!)

Stock car racing is not about the speed. We've all driven fast on the freeway. It's about the "company" that is on your bumper, your right side door, everywhere you look you're touching another car! It was one of the most fun things I ever did!

This cache is in plain site. Enjoy the 3 waterfalls next to the cache and try not to fall in!
