The Ogre of Brede Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mimring: Checked on this today. Someone cleaned up the ivy and the cache has gone. I don't come by often enough to maintain it. So it is time to put the Ogre to sleep. I enjoyed reading the logs on this one, even if they were few and far between.

Geocache Description:

The Ogre of Brede

A local legend tells of Old Oxenbridge –the Ogre of Brede – who had an appetite for the flesh of children, so much so that he had to have one for his supper each day. After enduring this for some time, the locals got together and decided to do something about it. They offered the ogre some of the local ale, enough to send him into a deep sleep, whereupon they tied him down and sawed him in half with a wooden saw – a somewhat painful process for the ogre. The site of the ogre’s demise was between Brede Place and the church, at a spot since known as the Groaning Bridge on Stubb’s lane. The bridge is said to be haunted by the Ogre’s ghost and groans as you walk across it.  So be careful as you hunt….
