Placed with permission from the MDC, under permit #GEO-001.
Remembering where you came from: The Original CO.
This Official Geocache was originally created and hidden by, cyleriggs and fiancé. This challenging multicache is discovered deep in a secluded Missouri River Conservation Area. This Monsterous meanie has endured, despite both Mother Nature and Time. Life has changed for the original owners and relocation will now prevent them from caring for this placement. In hopes of preserving B&C's First Hide, I have volunteered to adopt and to keep it rockin'! Best wishes for these two and safe travels to anywhere life’s journey carries them!
The Road Less Travelled: Description.
A rugged, rewarding, and scenic journey towards the final cache, placed in Liberty Bend Conservation Area, is not for the faint of heart! Acquiring a SMILEY here requires a more-than-moderate 3.5 mile round trip expedition thru dense woods, including a minimum of .25 miles of bushwhacking. Your hike will begin in LaBenite Park, along the LaBenite trail, for most geocachers, this adventure will take nearly 3 hours. During the Spring and Summer, thick foliage, ticks, poison ivy, and maybe even the occasional snake will make traversing the terrain difficult. (…to say the least...) Even during Autumn and Winter the bushwhacking can be overwhelming, as can the hike itself.
Consider Yourselves Warned: Site Rules & Safety.
· Due to the park’s hour restrictions, this offset multicache is only available daily from 6:00am until 10:00pm.
· Hunting is allowed on Liberty Bend CA. It is recommended to wear hunter's orange or other bright colors during deer season (Sep 25. - Jan. 25) and turkey season (Apr.19 - May 9). Click here to see the Liberty Bend CA hunting regulations.
· Nothing good happens after-hours in city parks; follow the park hours and all other regulations.
· Use caution during high water events, the river is close and high ground isn't easily reached. When in doubt check the river forecast. Gauged at 22’, the river is about 7’ below its banks at Liberty Bend CA.
A Brilliant Mind: Finding Stage 2.
Compute the coordinates for the final cache location using the clue and formulas below.
Face east and look at the diamond sign on the post. Count the number of squares on the sign, not including the sign itself. This number is X.
A= X + 1
B = (A * 100) - 100
C = ( (B / 100) * 3) - 3
D = (C * 40) + 56
The real cache is located at: N 39° A.B, W 094° C.D
Significant and lengthy bush-whacking will be required to reach the cache from Stage 1.
GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THIS REVISED GEOCACHE!!
The Original FTF and two bucks goes to Firemnky, their very first FTF in fact!
This hidden jewel is extended only to the 39 that found this geocache before the current owner, jjbarretts2 took ownership of it. If you have logged this hide, GC25PAG – “B&C’s First Hide”, on or before 06/02/2012, you may now do so again. Considering the hard life of this cache and the ‘upgrades’ that I have made to it, it's a whole new adventure. So I am unofficially re-releasing this geocache, just as one would release a new geocache hide. The 39 geocachers that have logged a “found it” here, may now log this hide a second time. ONLY the cachers on the following list may do so... firemnky, awhsom, byonke, mojedo, Russ and Dana, jeeperspeepers, kolkata, SimpleBears, guitarlizard, KKWN, Red Rock 7, Hockabee, The Ravens, PastorChris, cjhoffy, OrigamiFolder, sraburne, Old Painless, Weenfan, RaidersNKC, Trekkie79, debrajean, louinliberty, kickrobo, fatback, mikecamden, jjbarretts2, nledbetter89, cmmtcm, snowman99, kvenator, Specter, doug_hollyNKC, bowlboy, JASTSJR, Willowkitty, doodlebug02, Aztecdancer, , cbraden1885.
