Hillside was a new cemetery for Kamloops beginning in 1951.
It was set on the hill as a 15 acre parcel of land to act as the final resting spot for up to 40,000. Land holdings have since been increased to 35 acres to meet present needs. This may seem impossible to you until you learn that 70% of Kamloopsians are cremated.
Hillside is a non-denominational municipal cemetery. Early morning cachers can view deer and fawns nibbling on the fresh flowers left by families on the headstones or in vases alongside the paths. Please take the time to respectfully stroll through history.
