Geocache Description:

Up until 1927 - 1930 what is now known as Flowers Drive was once a part of 'Great Northern Highway'. The Newcastle - Sydney section later being renamed 'Pacific Highway'. Today it is the only pre 1920s piece of the highway existing on SR111.

The Catherine Hill Bay deviation was first constructed in the 1920's to allow further coal mining to take place along the existing highway route, eliminate steep grades and provide a better/safer overall route.

Park safely off the road at the suggested parking coordinates and the cache is a short 30m walk from here. Cache is in a 1L sistema container with a few swaps in it. The hide should be pretty obvious from a distance to most cachers.
