Geocache Description:

The cache is a camouflaged pill bottle. It contains a log only so bring your own writing utensil. You can drive within a few feet of the cache. The cache is hidden under a couple of small rocks. Please return it to the same location so the local pack-rat will not be able to carry it off again.

Take Natrona County Rd. 319. This is very remote country. There are no residences along the way nor any traffic should you need assistance. It also can be very muddy at times. Travel with appropriate back-country awareness.

Willow Springs was a major stopping point for the travelers on the Oregon Trail. It was the first non-alkaline water source for several miles and consequently it was mentioned in nearly every diary. It became the site for a Pony Express station as well as a series of Stagecoach stops over the years. This is a beautiful area amid the starkness of the prairie. Several markers of the original trail placed by the Oregon/California Trail Association (OCTA) are visible along the way.

This is the Wyoming prairie and a popular residence of rattlesnakes, scorpions and ticks. There are also numerous cacti. Consequently, watch out for things that can stick, sting, or bite you while exploring in the area.

Congratulations to Team Hickey for First to Find!!!

Happy Trails!!!
