Ram Bay Watch Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Back in the late 1960s, when Interstate 95 was in the planning stages, Clarendon County officials knew that when I-95 opened, both Summerton and Manning would be adversley affected by all the traffic by-passing those two towns. So, since this exit it halfway between Manning and Summerton, this is the exit where all the early money was spent so both communities could benefit. For whatever reason, the exit four miles north, Exit 119, was where the tourist seemed to want to stop for gas, lodging, etc. Consequently, Exit 119 grew like crazy and this exit (Exit 115) dried up. Another interesting bit of history...when Hurricane Hugo hit SC, this hotel was full of people from nearer the coast as they fled the wrath of Hugo. During that fateful night, Hugo blew the roof off this hotel.
