Boiled Peanuts Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there has been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Back in the 1950s, the farmer who owned a lot of land here...and the service station on this site...raised peanuts. Every summer, he would boil his peanuts, bag 'em and take 'em over to Summerton on Saturdays. I, along with some of my buddies, would meet him on main street and load up our baskets with bags of boiled peanuts. We would walk the streets, yelling "BOILED PEANUTS...TEN CENTS A BAG" until we had emptied our baskets. Then, we would go back to his truck where he waited. He would load our baskets again and off we'd go. I think he paid us two cents for every bag we sold. He, also, had four lovely daughters...one of whom I knew VERY WELL. When I-95 came through, the clover leaf at this exit consumed his farm. He was paid for his land, and retired to the lake.
