This cache is located in a wooded area near the Canex and Aviation Museum at CFB Greenwood.
We placed this cache in memory of a former Squadron Commander Herb Padwick. He was stationed here among many other bases for a short time during WWII. His legacy is the concept of centralized aircraft maintenance that is still in place today. One of Herb’s great memories of his time in Greenwood, was when the maintenance crews were having trouble acquiring filters for some of the aircraft during war shortages. He discovered that he could use feminine products in place of the filters. He went into town and purchased all the ones he could get his hands on. His wife Isobel (her cache is located near by) says that the local ladies were angry with him for awhile.
The cache is a cammoed plastic gum container with log, pencil, and a few trading items. There is room for coins only.
Congrats to Ducky on the FTF.
