This cache is hidden on town property with permission. The gates are usually open from 8am to 4pm. Please be respectful of property but know you are welcome. It is an ammo can and there are no tools necessary. Should be an easy park and grab.
The cache is in memory of my father, who was a well known and respected person in this community. The things in the cache are all items that remind us of him. My 3 daughters referred to him as "Abu" and they were his biggest joy.
The place where the cache is hidden was named after him because of his dedication and innovating ideas; such as rebuilding the reservoirs, drilling a horizontal well into the side of the mountain, and utilizing artificial wetland technology as environmentally friendly waste water treatment. He established a sister city relationship with a town in Ecuador, through the rotary club while we were down there on a research project for reed beds, so he could help a girl who needed surgery. He was on the board of education because he wanted to give a voice to the kids. He was an environmentalist.
He wasn't a conformist. He knew how to make people mad, be heard, find answers to hard questions, argue, and get things done. He was a self taught leader, an avid reader who had a strong passion for nature, trees, and playing with his family. He had passion and conviction. He was Atticus Finch to so many. I think he would have embraced geocaching and loved it as much as we do. This is our first hide and I'm happy we get to share a little piece of him in it. His parting words to us were.....look for me in the trees.
